The Drawing Shed

The Drawing Shed was an ongoing participatory project which evolved as artists made new works on, or in, a shed painted with blackboard paint. Starting as a pristine blank space the shed was temporarily transformed by invited artists over the course of the 10 week project.

Still in keeping with the use of basic materials available in any high street stationers, Halliwell’s work on The Drawing Shed replaced her signature biros with chalk and the Spirograph kit with stencils. The drawing itself, reminiscent of a 1970′s wallpaper, wrapped itself around the outside of the shed beneath an imaginary picture rail. With an Alice in Wonderland-like translation of scale, Halliwell’s drawing returns us once again to the familiarity & nostalgia of childhood spaces.
