Big Draw: Inspired By The Spirograph

We had a really busy day of drop-in drawing activities to celebrate my work which is part of the exhibition 'Beauty is the First Test' at the Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park. We explored the magic of the Spirograph and made our own designs into badges to wear.  As well as regular sized Spirographs to play with, we also used giant ones (made from bicycle chains and gears) and chalk to make a huge group drawing on the gallery piazza. The chalk and gears were difficult for small hands to control on the uneven floor but we improvised with stencils and before we knew it the drawing was almost 7 meters in diameter!

Thanks to Liz Cooper, the Curator of Beauty is the First Test for her enthusiastic support and excellent badge-making skills!

The event was made possible with support from Wandsworth Council
